Croydon Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) Forum and London South Bank University (LSBU) are once again uniting forces in a pioneering effort to address profound health inequalities in Croydon, aiming to reduce the alarming 6-year life expectancy gap at birth within the Croydon community. This joint initiative leverages barbershops as a crucial hub to identify undiagnosed high blood pressure among men and establishes an outreach clinic at the BME Forum’s Wellness Centre. This strategic partnership guarantees accessible healthcare services, marking a substantial stride toward a healthier and more equitable future for the community.

Duration: July 2025 to December 2025
Overview:
Croydon Black & Minority Ethnic (BME) Forum, London South Bank University (LSBU), and Public Health Croydon are partnering to reduce the occurrence of stroke by identifying meaningful interventions in young people who are of Black, minority ethnic (BME) heritage. Patients and the general public’s views will be used to shape the project as well as to help identify practical and tangible solutions to this issue through a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) group. Furthermore, a diverse and representative steering committee composed of PPI members, nurses, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders will be assembled.
Outcomes:
