Welcome to the Neurodiversity and Neurodevelopmental Conditions Project.
The aim of the Neurodiversity and Neurodevelopmental Conditions project is to actively listen to the needs of the Neurodiverse Black community, service users, and their families to inform recommendations of culturally appropriate care for people with neurodevelopmental conditions.
The project will be focused on empowering the community by engaging and foregrounding the voices of its members to ensure authentic needs are identified. Croydon BME Forum intends to achieve this by hosting listening workshops, drop-in sessions, training sessions, and by distributing surveys.
Croydon BME Forum is committed to partnership working and shared responsibility, as such a Joint Working Group has been established to ensure the successful delivery of the Neurodiversity and Neurodevelopmental Conditions Project. The project’s structure, leadership, and partnerships are in line with a thoughtful and inclusive approach, setting the stage for a coordinated effort to address the specific challenges faced by Black individuals with neurodevelopmental conditions in Croydon.
The Joint Working Group is made up of the Croydon IAG, SLAM, community organisations, patients, carers and families, who will use a comprehensive and collaborative approach, bringing together expertise from various sectors, to address the specific needs of Black communities in Croydon.
The Neurodiversity and Neurodevelopmental Conditions Project is funded by NHS Integrated Care Partnership (ICP) and Integrated Care Board (ICB) and the recommendations will be shared with both bodies.
